Firefly's Cry

During the lockdowns of the pandemic, my cousin organized an art collaboration, where each person would create a piece of work, and send it on to another person to complete it.  Feeling isolated and lonely, I wrote a poem called Firefly's Cry and put it to song.

  • LIGHT! light.

Lady night, she stretches her dark fingers,
and I begin to glow. LIGHT! light.
In green woods where wooing lovers linger
    I blink to say hello.

Do you see me - LIGHT! light. - Salutation twinkling?
Do you see me - LIGHT! light. - Heralding I'm lonely?

At long last my starless night is broken, LIGHT! light.
when you begin to shine. LIGHT! light.
Radiant joy, my romance has awoken; LIGHT! light.
I flash for you are mine!

Do you see me - LIGHT! light. - Salutation twinkling?
Do you see me - LIGHT! light. - Flickering in harmony?

My wonderful art collaboration partner created a piece of artwork based on the song.  She heard my heart's cry, and responded in harmony.  And I feel lonely no longer.
